HOST becoming coffee paradise

As everyone knows by now, there is an absolute passion for coffee and all its derivatives with us for some time now. HOST in Milan made it an absolute must to visit and experience old and new trends from the coffee business. Of course we all joined in an effort to support the bar supports from France and Italy that catered a variety of booths and hosted the Meditteranean Coffee Competition that took place for several days on the fair.

The most impressive by far on the fair was the absolute professionalism of 9bar bar support Italy in their exceptional catering of the BRASILIA booth. Having two Excelsior and two Opus machines at work, they hit it off with style, elegance and accuracy.

Even Paola was working at the booth and hit some really nice latte art.

Ludo was in the house with his charming french accent and not to forget Andreas molecular coffees and Alessandros Guiness fetish. Good as well to hook up with Ian and Ruth from barsupport Holland and the one and only TUG who was as well MCing the competition.

flair bartending redefined

Gosh,
when I saw this movie, I was laughing so hard.
Hillareous! Well, be careful next time you work
behind the bar that noone tapes you and makes a
bollywood epic out of you.

Thanks to Helmut Adam from the Mixology guys to get me onto this.

Southern Comfort Mixology Competition

The day before the barshow I was judging a cool new competition style. As we are all well aware now, flair bartending is cool but loosing it to ultrahip mixology. Trendsetting as usual, barsupport introduced a new style of competition- a flair bartending competition without flair.

Located in a beautiful former church in Amsterdam, 15 competitors from allover Holland were selected to compete one by one, first with a speed mixology round and following a mixology round. In focus was pure bartender presentation with a "mix with style" terminology in an urban background.

Gotta love it!

bar NL 2007 back in Amsterdam

This years barshows in Netherlands was a blast. As usual.
I think it is really because the barsupport NL guys are doing it. I went a day early to judge a traditional mixology competition for Southern Comfort, also organized by Ian.

Great fun and three drinks that really rocked my boat.
If you thought Southern Comfort tastes nice, go off on these ones. I will get Ian to send me the recipies, the drinks are thrilling.

Here is some pictured content for you guys.

What I liked most of all was meeting fabulous Jörg Meyer, da man from the incredulicious lion,
that was pimping us with some great content on his flickr page. Jörg, you are the man.
